Ayrburn, nestled in Queenstown against the stunning Remarkables mountain range, has transformed from a historic farm into a vibrant cultural and culinary hub under the vision of Chris Meehan, CEO of Winton and former leader of the Belle Property group. Originally eyed as a personal retreat, Ayrburn is now the newest must-visit wine venue in the region, offering a unique blend of history and modern luxury.
With 11 restaurants and bars, including the soon-to-open flagship restaurant Billy’s, Ayrburn is set to become a top destination for food and wine lovers.
Current highlights include The Woolshed, offering seasonal dining for 160 guests, and The Burr Bar, a cozy spot for whisky enthusiasts.
The Manure Room, once a secret Prohibition-era drinking den, now hosts exclusive wine tastings featuring Ayrburn’s own range, crafted with Central Otago grapes in collaboration with Master of Wine Sophie Parker-Thomson and winemaker Jody Pagey. Their rosé, in particular, is a standout, making Ayrburn a compelling new destination for wine aficionados.
