Mora Wines is an exciting new chapter from the Skeggs Group, the creators of the acclaimed RUA brand. This second-generation, New Zealand family-owned company builds on the Skeggs' rich legacy in winemaking.
Sir Clifford and Lady Marie Skeggs began their wine journey in 1995, planting their first vines in Bannockburn in 1996. They founded the award-winning Akarua brand (now part of Edmond de Rothschild Heritage) and RUA, a favourite Central Otago Pinot Noir that continues to shine both in New Zealand and abroad. Today, RUA and Mora are key pillars of the Skeggs’ wine portfolio.
In addition to Pinot Noir, Central Otago excels in producing pure, intense white wines like Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Gris. Despite its relative youth, the region has swiftly earned a stellar reputation for premium cool-climate wines.
The Skeggs Family now proudly manages 90 hectares of established vineyards in the Pisa and Bannockburn subregions of Central Otago.
Visitors are invited to experience Mora Cellar Door in Lake Hayes near Arrowtown for an engaging tasting experience. Their passionate team will guide guests through Mora wines, sharing insights about the vineyards and the unique landscapes that shape the wines' distinctive flavors and textures.
